Monitoring
CUPS missed their long weekend biller file processing deadline on October 3 due to processing delays on their end. Central 1 received that file (payments from September 29 to October 2) after the deadline on October 3, and they were included in the processing of all files and payments, received October 3, during our regular October 4 end of day biller clearing.

The combined files pushed three EDI billers over our current clearing limit on October 4, preventing any of those transactions, from October 3, from posting to BMO Mastercard, MBNA Mastercard, and RBC VISA. Central 1 is temporarily raising our limits today to process the files, and transactions will be posted within the next couple of business days to your members’ BMO Mastercard, MBNA Mastercard, and RBC VISA accounts.

Impact to members:
• Central 1 is working with BMO, MBNA, and RBC reminding them to honor the customer payment dates, as per CPA rules, which are in the EDI files, to prevent any late payment charges.
• Members accounts would have been debited from their initial payment, but there is a risk they may have chosen to pay the biller again when they did not see their payment applied.

We will provide a follow-up communication on this matter tomorrow, October 7.
