[App/Intranet] - Some users have been logged out of their active sessions
Incident Report for Staffbase
Postmortem

As our investigation of the incident is complete, we would like to provide you with more detailed information about the incident that occurred on July 05 at 10:15am CET.

What happened:
The roll-out of a refactored session handling introduced an error in our session handling that classified valid sessions in some rare cases. This resulted in some users only being able to see the public area of their application, leading them to believe that they had been logged out. Rolling back the changes revalidated the existing sessions, and users regained access to their accounts.

Impact:
Between 10:15 am CET and 11:15 am CET, only the public area of their app was available for some users.

Future improvements:
To avoid future incidents, we will add additional checks to our pre-release tests.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to improve our services and prevent future incidents. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer support team at support@staffbase.com.

Identified
Users who have or had the app open in the last hour may have been logged out of their active sessions.
We have fixed the cause of this. Users who now open the app are no longer logged out of their active sessions, and most logged out users were automatically logged back in.
Any users who were not automatically logged back in can log back in through the normal login process.

We will continue to monitor the behavior until we are sure the issue is fully resolved.

We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions about this issue, please contact our support team at support@staffbase.com.
