Description: Flexera One – IT Asset Management – NA & EU – Missing Oracle Database Options

Timeframe:

NA: November 18th, 7:28 PM to November 23rd, 4:19 PM PST
EU: November 19th, 3:33 AM to November 23rd, 11:50 PM PST

Incident Summary:

On Tuesday, November 22nd, following the latest ARL release, technical staff found issues with the Oracle Database Options missing from the ITAM inventory.

Investigations revealed that the ARL attribute label was incorrectly altered during the change. As a result, the Oracle Options tab was not displaying any results, impacting customers’ ability to view accurate Oracle database license consumption numbers and Oracle optimization reports.

After further research and discussions, the staff decided to generate a new ARL build and introduce a fix with that new build to rectify the ongoing issue. After further testing and validation, on November 23rd, at 10:09 AM PST, an updated ARL cab file was generated to be deployed in production.

On November 23rd, at 11:39 AM PST, technical staff triggered the tasks to deploy the new updates across all environments. Updates for NA completed successfully at 4:19 PM PST and EU at 11:50 PM PST. In addition, monitoring and Health checks confirmed that the service had returned to its stable state and Oracle Options were loading successfully.

Root Cause:

The ARL attribute label for Oracle Database options was incorrectly altered during the latest ARL release on November 21st, 2022.

Corrective Action:

  1. To rectify the issue, a new ARL build was deployed across all environments
  2. We will continue to work on enhancing testing and validation mechanism to ensure issues with oracle applications are detected and corrected prior to production deployment

The ARL fix was tested and validated successfully last night. The updated ARL CAB file has been deployed to production, and it may take approximately 1-2 days for the updates to finish across all environments.

Incident Description: Following the latest ARL release on November 21st, 2022, technical teams have identified issues with the Oracle Database Options missing from the ITAM inventory. As a result, customers may experience issues accessing oracle database licenses and oracle optimization reports.

Priority: P2

Restoration Activity: Technical team has identified the root cause, and the current plan is to implement the fix and provide the new ARL CAB file by tonight PST.
