Increased errors in Consumer Serving
Incident Report for Yext
Postmortem

Summary

On Friday July 2nd, 2021, from 5:36am ET, consumers started experiencing a higher than usual number of errors when loading Pages content. This was accompanied by higher than average latency for Answers queries. This only affected traffic into our EU and JP regions. This continued until 6:06am ET, when normal service resumed.

Root Cause

Our CDN provider experienced an outage in some of their serving regions, which affected requests to Yext consumer services in these regions.

Remediation

We plan to make improvements to our failover process to improve response times for short-lived incidents such as this.
