Monitoring
The problem was mitigated as AWS compute service was recovered - this service is used to run our portal application. There was no downtime on our application microservices, however, there was reachability issue to these services within AWS compute service. We are still working with AWS to identify the root cause and will continue to monitor for a few more hours before marking it as resolved.

Investigating
We are investigating issues relating to intermittent availability of customer portal and some of our backend APIs. Customer applications are not impacted.
