OHIO’s online proctoring services have been restored. The service, provided by Proctortrack, was disabled after the vendor experienced a security breach on October 13, 2020. After reviewing the incident report provided by the vendor, we are satisfied with the measures they have taken to address the issue and protect University data, and Proctortrack is now available to faculty and students.

Update
Online proctoring through Proctortrack will remain unavailable to OHIO faculty and students until after the internal review of Proctortrack’s incident report is completed as per the Data Security Breach Response Standard (https://www.ohio.edu/oit/security/policy-and-practices/draft-standards). While Proctortrack announced on 10.23.20. that their services are resumed as per the recommendation of their incident review, they have not shared these results with the us. Following the above Standard, we are not resuming services until they do so, and we expect to receive the final incident report early this week.


The service will be available for faculty and students if the OHIO internal review concludes the security threat to be successfully mitigated. We will continue to provide regular updates as we receive information.

OHIO's online exam proctoring service, Proctortrack, remains unavailable while the vendor continues its investigation into the security breach they experienced on October 13, 2020. The vendor has hired an external cybersecurity forensics firm to assess what happened, and we expect to receive an incident report detailing the results of this investigation next week. OHIO's information security team is closely monitoring the situation and will review the incident report from the vendor as soon as it is delivered. Online proctoring through Proctortrack will remain unavailable to OHIO faculty and students until after the internal review of Proctortrack's incident report is completed. The Proctortrack outage persists. The vendor’s security review and external audit is underway. We are waiting for their incident report before we can establish next steps in restoring the service. Proctortrack has taken the system offline due to a security breach. They anticipate that the system will be unavailable until Monday, October 26, while they undergo a thorough security review and an external audit.
