A solution has been found and implemented for the Status Page notifications.

The university's status page currently is sending occasional 'subscription confirmation' emails to large distribution groups. We have identified the problem and are working to fix it. In the meantime, if you receive a message asking you to confirm your subscription to https://status.ohio.edu, you can safely delete that message.
