Increased errors in Live Api, Pages Locators, and Answers
Incident Report for Yext
Postmortem

Summary

On October 2nd, beginning at 4:36 p.m. ET, the Live API service began serving with elevated error rates. This affected downstream services such as Pages Locators and the Answers service. Service recovered fully by 4:55 p.m. ET.

Root Cause

An update to Live API increased resource consumption during normal internal operations. This caused delays and errors in processing downstream requests from Pages and Answers. Once the issue was identified, we immediately halted internal operations. This allowed customers requests to be processed as normal.

Remediation

We are actively working to decrease the amount of resources required for internal operations. Additionally, we will be working to make Live API resilient even during periods where internal operations consume more resources than allocated.
